Can you install IE 7 Beta 2 on Vista, I tried and it said that it wasn't compatible with the current OS?

No, it is not compatible, since there is a IE 7 on Windows Vista, includes most of the same functionality. The current download for IE7 is for XP SP2 only. Windows Vista will have in-built IE7.
